General Tips for Talking About Careers With Your Child

  • Keep language clear, short, and concrete
  • Give processing time
  • Offer choices instead of open questions if needed
  • Use visual supports (pictures, objects, written options)
  • Accept non-verbal responses (pointing, choosing, gestures)
