Careers Programme
Two Rivers High School: Careers Programme
Introduction
Our provision includes various opportunities for students to access a range of careers and employability events. These are mainly integrated into the school’s careers programme and curriculum. Whilst many of these events are delivered internally, opportunities for contributions from external providers are encouraged and visitors are warmly welcomed to speak with pupils, parents and carers.
Two Rivers High School is committed to enabling all students, regardless of ability, to make well informed, realistic and ambitious decisions about future learning and careers pathways. The school strives to raise learners’ aspirations, enabling them to investigate a broad spectrum of potential opportunities. The school’s curriculum is designed to focus on the development of social and communication skills that promote the growth of practical employability skills. (GBM1)
Our students’ career learning pathways focus on their social and cognitive needs as well as their personal development. As they journey through the school, students are supported to understand their abilities and strengths before they start to investigate the world around them and the opportunities available to them. Two Rivers students are supported to develop their understanding of who they are, what they want to be and where they can have a positive role in the world around them. (GBM3)
Long-term collaboration between school and our main external providers ensures continuity and quality of opportunities, and so we have an excellent working relationship with Louise Gilbert (our Careers Advisor) from Seetec. We continue to be supported in our careers and enterprise offer by Helen Brown, Enterprise Coordinator from Stoke on Trent & Staffordshire Careers Hub. (GBM2)
We value these collaborations as they enhance opportunities for access and allow us to provide exciting Careers Encounters for our students. More information can be found in our Provider Access Legislation Policy.
